Planting Trees in Sierra County Since 2024
Tree or C, a Tree NM Statewide Program
The T or C or TREE OR C program was established in 2024. Tree or C is sponsored & supported by Tree New Mexico's Statewide Program. TNM received a grant through the USFS Inflation Reduction Act to do statewide tree plantings over 5 years. As of February 22nd, 2025, 246 trees have been added to the Sierra County tree canopy thanks to this grant.
For the upcoming Fall plantings, we will be planting ~75-(15 gallon) trees, & also giving away equal amounts (5 gallon trees) to local volunteers & residents. There is no cost to the tree adopters, though they will have to agree to care for the tree. We dig the holes, we plant the trees. The only obligation of the adopter is to water. Tree care classes will also be provided to learn more about caring for trees young & old.
Right now we are gathering information of those who would like to receive a tree & to volunteer for this & future events. <Click the Buttons Below>
We also would like to link with at least one local business to feed & hydrate our amazing volunteers.

AOI stands for "area of interest" The areas of interest for the upcoming fall 2025 plantings are labeled AOI3 & AOI4.
