Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:  We are looking for volunteers to help us canvass neighborhoods preparing for a tree planting event. Canvassers are looking for home owners who want to adopt a free tree.  This effort helps with community building as well as increasing tree canopy in Albuquerque.  After you and a partner have completed the training, you will be able to engage neighborhood residents in conversation and commit to adopting one of the available trees. You must be able to walk from house to house and have good communication skills. Access and ability to use a smart-phone is helpful. No lifting or carrying is required.

Areas of Interest: Environment, Community Building

Great for: Adults 18 or over

Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project: Tree New Mexico is a nonprofit tree planting organization that plants trees in urban and rural communities across the state. We are based in Albuquerque. We focus primarily on under-served populations and low tree canopy areas and have observed that coming together to plant trees is a great way to build community. In collaboration with the City of Albuquerque, our ABQ NeighborWoods Program is one of our premier programs.
