Janus Herrera

Board Vice Chair

In 2019, Janus began planting with TreeNM and has since enjoyed the Tree Stewards program, delivering trees on her trailer, and collaborating on grants.  She is pursuing a Master’s Certificate in Public Health and works at the Health Equity Council, with a focus on environmental justice, harm reduction, and removing systemic barriers.  Janus previously worked in positive youth development at Rocky Mountain Youth Corps, an AmeriCorps National Service program, bringing full-circle her 2016 graduation from AmeriCorps’ Public Allies.

As a multi-generational New Mexican, Janus can often be found spending free time with her large family.  She enjoys exploring Burque with her dog or on her bike. She loves any opportunity to practice Spanish or ASL and is an active volunteer with Mutual Aid and United Voices for Newcomers Rights.
