Trees and Their Impact on Earth’s Atmosphere
April 22, 2020Pollinators and Trees
May 21, 2020Tree New Mexico’s spring plantings got off to a great start with the first 2020 Pana and Mile High NeighborWoods Event on February 29th. We had over 75 volunteers participating and received a lovely unplanned donation from Rio Grande Credit Union. Then Covid 19 hit! Both our second and third plantings had to be cancelled, but did that stop the TNM staff from moving forward? No way! We reorganized the “How” and rescheduled the “When” and with the City of Albuquerque’s blessings, on May 9 staff and regular volunteer leaders in very small family pods planted all 200 trees. We were unable to hand out T-shirts, pass out snacks, teach a class on tree planting and many of the usual big event activities we are known for, but the trees are happily in the ground. Martineztown, University Heights and Victory Hills Neighborhoods are now looking at some beautiful trees along their streets.
A special thank you to the family members of staff and planting leaders who assisted us in getting this work done. And to all the people who wanted to help plant but had to be turned away because of present health requirements, not to worry. Tree New Mexico has at least three planting events scheduled for this coming fall and we are hoping circumstances have shifted and we don’t have to do them all in-house. Be sure to watch for up to date information and join us if you can!!!
